Privacy Policy
Effective: 5 November 2026. Last updated: 5 November 2026.
Short version
Awake runs on your Mac. It keeps the screen awake locally with a power assertion (IOPMAssertion). It does not collect, send or store your data anywhere but the Mac. It has no analytics, no tracking and no accounts.
Who we are
Awake is made and run by plain d. Dawid Woźniak, a sole proprietorship (JDG) registered in Poland, which is the controller for anything covered by this policy. Contact: dawid@plaind.pl.
What the app does
Awake is a native macOS menu bar app. When you choose On, or a Sunset timer, it holds an IOPMAssertion so the screen stays awake. Off releases that assertion. Awake does not read other apps’ files.
What stays on your Mac
Only the preferences you set yourself: the mode (On, Off or Sunset), the theme, the accent color, start at login, and whether the countdown is shown in the menu bar. They stay on the Mac. Nothing from them leaves the Mac. Removing the app removes them with it.
Update checks
The app may download a public appcast file, using Sparkle, to see whether a newer version exists. That request carries only what any download does: your IP address and a user agent. It does not include your preferences or anything else from the Mac. Whoever hosts the file may log the request under their own policy. We do not receive or use those logs.
This website
This site is static. It sets no cookies, uses no local storage and loads no analytics or third party scripts. It is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc., which may log visitors’ IP addresses and keep them under its own policy, see the GitHub General Privacy Statement. We do not receive or use those logs.
Your rights
The app does not process your personal data. If you email us, we use that message only to reply. You can ask us to access, correct or delete it by writing to dawid@plaind.pl. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
